City Action Alert- HB 1182 on Political Parties and City Elections

HB 1182 which would give candidates for city elections the option to declare a political party came out of committee with a DO PASS Recommendation. It will likely be voted on by the House on Thursday (2/4).  Email or call your House members and ask them to vote no/red on HB 1182. Let them know that it is best to keep city elections non-partisan. Beginning of Legislative Week 11

  Week 11 will be a big week at the North Dakota Legislature. At 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 16th, the House and Senate Appropriations Committees will hear the revenue forecast from Moody's Analytics. This is the first step in the House and Senate adopting common revenue projections to work from. Once common revenue projections are adopted, the work on the state budget based on those revenue projections will occur. This is also a big week for hearings on bills that impact cities. On Tuesday, the Senate Taxation Committee is hearing two bills regarding infrastructure funding. 67th Legislative Session Set to Convene January 5

The 67th North Dakota Legislative Assembly is set to convene next week on January 5, 2020. On the first day of the session, legislators will hear the Tribal-State Message, the State of the Judiciary Address, and the State of the State address. All of these presentations will be broadcast live from the Legislature's webpage. The links to watch are available at  https://www.legis.nd.gov/events/2021-01 . The pre-filed bills and resolutions have been posted to the North Dakota Legislature's website. There are 101 pre-filed bills and resolutions. The pre-filed bills and resolutions are typically appropriation bills, bills/resolutions from legislative management, bills/resolutions from interim legislative committees, and procedural agency bills.
